Castlestuke: In 1601, this castle is recorded as inhab-ited by Phelemy Brasleigh O'Doherty's son (CSPI 1600-1, 277). Shaw-Mason records the tradition that it was built by Phelemy Brasleigh O'Doherty to keep his children protected from the ravages of smallpox (I, 1814, 182-3). The location of this castle is probably to be identified with the remains on top of a stack, c. 4m high W of Dunmore Head (Davies and Swan 1939, 198). The top of the stack is c. 7m by 4m and has a subrectangular central depression c. 1.5m by 2.5m by .5m deep. Some courses of masonry are visible on the NW edge of the stack.
