The following description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Carlow' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1993). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 17 July 2007 Remains consist of square gatehouse of two storeys with at least one higher angle tower, represented by NW wall and parts of NE wall. Entrance in centre of NW wall leading to central vaulted passageway between two parallel vaulted chambers (NE chamber int. dims. c. 8m x 3.7m). Mural stair within SW wall to upper floor. Garderobe chute and keystones of curtain wall visible on NE wall. Courtyard visible as slightly raised platform at SE. (JRSAI 1987, 28-49)
