The heads of two churchyard crosses with disc-heads and fragments probably belonging to one of them, a Latin churchyard cross with an inscription, and a stone with an inscription are set in cement just S of the N nave wall. This sandstone latin cross (H 0.55m; span 0.38m; T 0.13-0.14m) has slightly expanding arms like penal crosses. On one face is a recessed cross beneath which is the inscription: IN THE / YEAR / OF OUR / LORD / 1685 / AGED 88 YEARS. On one side beneath the arm is the inscription: BR / IAN / FERE / LLY. Davies (1948, 114) describes a fragment from a cross shaft with the inscription: THIS. CR / OS. WAS / ERECT / ED BY / DENIS / FERELL / Y IN. RE / MEMBR / ANC This piece is now missing but could have been related to this cross. See the attached views: Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 19 March 2020
