What is recorded here

Situated on top of a drumlin, an oval wood (dims c. 110m NNW-SE; c. 55m ENE-WSW) is depicted here on the 1835 edition of the OS 6-inch map and an oval field is represented on the 1908 edition. A circular grass-covered enclosure (diam. c. 35m) defined by what appears to be a flat-topped earthen bank (Wth of base c. 8m) and an outer fosse (Wth of top c. 8m) is visible in low winter sunlight on Google images (17/01/2020) and on some earlier Google images. The perimeter is incorporated in the bank of the wood NE-SE and SW-W but it can be clearly seen elsewhere. The enclosure can also be seen on OSI images (2005-2012), and it was first reported by Jean Charles Caillere.
