What is recorded here

Davies (1942, 20) recorded a packwork crannóg with morticed cross-beams at this location. He (ITA Survey 1942) added that there were formerly both uprights and horizontal beams, but all had been removed. Two of these could be seen together with a dugout canoe on the opposite shore of the lake, at that time. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cavan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1995). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 22 December 2008
