What is recorded here

Raised circular area (int. diam. 28.4m) enclosed by a low earthen bank and a deep, narrow, partly waterlogged fosse which has been partly modernised and utilised as a field drain. An apparently modern counterscarp bank surrounds the fosse. A field boundary running NNW-SSE divides the rath into two unequal portions, NE of which the site has been levelled. Nonetheless its outline is still identifiable. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cavan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1995). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 22 December 2008
