What is recorded here

Raised circular area (int. diam. 29.4m) enclosed by a low bank of earth and stone from NNE-S-W. From W-N-NNE the perimeter is obscured by a modern field boundary. Original entrance not recognisable. Projecting from the inner face of the bank at S is a small subrectangular area (int. dims. 5.6m NE-SW; 4.2m NW-SE) enclosed by a low, broad bank of earth and stone. Entrance to this may have been either through a wide break in the bank at E or through a smaller break at NNE. Running 2.6m from the NE of this enclosure is a low, much-ruined, linear drystone wall. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cavan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1995). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 22 December 2008
