According to local information, a place known as 'Teampall na Gréine' or 'the lios', located near the boulder burial (CO153-011----), was destroyed in the 1940s. This rath may be associated with the souterrain (CO153-030----) also said to be located in this area. There are no visible remains of this possible rath in the field in which the boulder burial is located.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 5' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009).
