What is recorded here

In rough grazing, on a plateau to the N of Hackett's Cove on the E side of Spanish Island. According to Healy (1988, 214), this plateau is where a castle of the O'Driscolls, which was attacked in 1537, stood. There is now no evident trace of such a structure in this location. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 5' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). Date of upload: 22 December 2009

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
