What is recorded here

In bogland on N-facing slope. Marked 'Kill Burial Ground' on OS 6-inch map (1842). Slightly raised circular area (4.6m N-S; 6.8m E-W) partially enclosed to W by edge-to-edge setting of stones. Grave markers occur on inner circumference leaving centre devoid of stones. O'Donoghue (1986, 4) mentions site of 'ancient church' adjoining this burial ground (CO147-049002); no visible surface trace. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009
