Fragmentary remains of 19th-century coastal mining complex on SE side Dunmanus Bay; consisting of ruined mining structures; adits and shafts; dividing walls and magazine amidst mounds of spoil. Roofless embattled magazine; circular external plan, rectangular internal plan (1.9m N-S; 1.55m E-W); pointed doorway to SE (wall thickness 0.73m). On S side of complex are remains of fish palace (CO147-002002-). Near mines reservoir, c. 150m S of main mining complex, are remains of two single-storey dwellings. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992).
