Narrow sloping headland on W side Dunnycove Bay. Steep slope down from mainland to silted-up fosse (Wth 2m; D 1m) immediately in front of sod-covered remains of Dunnycove castle (CO144-034002-). Westropp (1914, 96) describes fosse as 'cut in the rock, 6 feet deep and 12 feet wide'. He considered traces of walling along edge of promontory as feature of earliest defences on site but similar walling at Dooneendermotmore (CO151-040---) was late medieval in date.
