According to Healy (1989, 169) site of fortified residence built in 17th century by the O'Donovans. Renamed Castle Lane in 18th century. No surface remains. Two storey 19th century house called Bawnlahan built on or near site. Numerous substantial walls occur on the demesne which may be associated with the earlier occupation. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992).
