On high ground overlooking Castletownshend. Built 1827 (Lewis 1837, vol. 1, 297) on site of earlier church built 1761 (Anon. 1990). Rectangular nave with baptistry and vestry to N; chancel to E; pinnacled tower to W. According to local information oak holy table and surrounding carved reredos in chancel came from old parish church (3116) in Castlehaven. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992).
