What is recorded here

In a graveyard (CO132-067----). The Down Survey (1655-6) map (1652) shows a church in this position, therefore the site is probably that of the medieval parish church of Caheragh which was in repair in 1639 but entirely gone by 1699 (Brady 1867, 46-7). This church is mentioned in the Inventory entry for the graveyard (CO132-067----). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009
