Small irregular area (L 17m; Wth 7.4m) projecting W into Dunmanus Bay. Defended by steep-sided earthen bank (H 4.3m) with outer fosse (D 1.7m); collapsing into sea to S, with outer fosse (D 1.7m). Interior overgrown and being rapidly eroded by sea, at S side in particular (site was much less eroded when inspected by Westropp (1921a, 107). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992).
