In rough grazing land, on the NW-facing slopes of Knockanallig on Bere Island. Due to a dense cover of gorse and moor grass, the holy well could not be found. O'Sullivan (1992, 54-5) recorded that it was associated with St Michael, that it was known locally as 'the pattern' and that a pattern day was held there on the Sunday nearest to the feast of St Michael. It was also recorded that in the recent past people with eye problems visited the well and washed their eyes in the water and recited special prayers to effect a cure (ibid.).
