In pasture on ENE-facing slope with commanding view to E. Shown on OS 6-inch map (1842) as 'in ruins'. Clan Dermot MacCarthy castle (Coleman 1972, 99). No visible surface trace. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992).
