What is recorded here

In rough hill pasture, on bog, on the SE-facing slopes of Maulin overlooking the valley of the Owgarriff River. The remains of a circular hut site (diam. 2.1m) defined by a rush-covered stone wall (T 0.65m; H 0.5m). The wall is best evident SW-SE where large stones protrude above the surface of the bog. The level interior is cut (D 0.35m) into the upslope at the NW to compensate for the hillslope. There is a hut site (CO115-103007-) 6m to the S and another (CO115-103009-) is 9m to the NW. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 5' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). Date of upload: 22 December 2009
