What is recorded here

In level boggy grassland broken by rock outcrop. Two straight sections of unconnected bank on N side of field boundary; one (H 1m) 22m N of field boundary runs roughly NE-SW for 27m; second 17.5m to E of last (H 0.7m) runs Nfrom field boundary for 8m. No surface evidence of site in reclaimed field to S of field boundary. Locally known as site of "lios". Surviving remains consistent with rectangular enclosure or moated site. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992).
