On elevated site in graveyard on W side of Bandon. St. Peter's church built 1849 on site of church built 1614 with assistance from Sir Richard Boyle (O'Flanagan 1988, 10). Cruciformed church (long axis E-W) with aisles;chancel extended. Pinnacled tower on N wall. Many 18th and 19th century monuments within. Limestone waterfont in use dated 1719. Sub-rectangular graveyard enclosed by retaining stone wall (max. ext. H 4.5m); wall to S incorporates part of town wall (3321); wall to E along line of town wall. Graveyard extended to W. Headstones date from mid 18th century to present day.
