In rough pasture on N slopes of Maughanaclea Hills. Named 'Sheep Fold' on O.S. map (1842). Rectangular earthen banks N-S (L 18m; H 0.35m); E-W (L 8.5m; 0.60m). E side of N-S bank survives to S (L 6m; H 0.45m). Numerous gaps (Wth c. 2m). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009
