What is recorded here

On a NE-facing slope, under a road leading SW to a house. According to local information, a souterrain was discovered here when the ground collapsed during the construction of the road in 1986. The opening was subsequently closed in and the road was built over it. There are no visible remains of this possible souterrain at ground level. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 5' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). Date of upload: 22 December 2009

This remains an important historical record, but the official description says the monument is no longer visible or has been destroyed.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
