What is recorded here

On a grass-covered hillock, in an area of generally rough peaty grazing with clear views of the surrounding hills and mountains. A roughly circular area (diam. 18m) is enclosed by the low intermittent remains of an earthen bank (Wth 1.4m; H 0.2m) from which stones protrude intermittently along the N arc. The disturbed uneven interior is in pasture. Externally the ground slopes down on all sides. The removal of gravel and other works have truncated the SE-SW sector. A possible souterrain (CO103-022001-) is within the rath. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 5' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). Date of upload: 22 December 2009
