What is recorded here

According to S. O'Mahony (pers. comm.) near the southern townland boundary are two galláns which now lie prostrate; known as the "Boardee Stones". The particular part of the field is very soft due to the proximity of a spring and only the upper surface of the stones are visible (dims. c. 3m x 1m). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 2: East and South Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1994). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009
