Long (1929, 106) noted that c. 1891 a 'considerable number of standing oak planks, placed contiguously in a circular formation, making a complete enclosure, having a diameter of fifty feet [c. 15m]...' were found by turf-cutters in Raheen Bog. The planks were found c. 2m below the surface and c. 270m from where twenty-five copper axes were found in 1911 (ibid.). The precise location of this feature is not known. A copper bowl (diam. c. 0.15m; D 0.1m) was found in the centre of the crannog (ibid.).
