At the base of an E-facing cliff, in an area of rough rocky hill grazing, to the SW of the summit of Esk Mountain. An irregularly shaped opening (L 6m; Wth 4.6m; H 3.4m) on the face of the cliff leads into two smaller D-shaped adits (L c. 5m; Wth 2m; H 2m and L c. 5m; Wth 1.8m; H 1.2m, respectively) in which there are signs of fire-setting and copper staining. The adits, which are separated by a pillar of rock (Wth 0.6m), slope downwards and are partially filled with debris and water. On the rock-face to the N of the main opening, a roughly rectangular-shaped driving (Wth 4.1m; H 0.4-8m; D 2m) slopes upwards into the rock with further traces of fire-setting and copper staining. Large stones are scattered in front of the mine entrance, and the steep slope to the S of the entrance appears to contain mine debris. There is a hut site (CO090-012002-) c. 25m to the S.
