On W side of laneway, 500m E of Shanagarry village; rectangular graveyard (c. 30m N-S; c. 40m E-W) enclosed by stone wall. No visible surface trace of C of I church shown at N end on 1842 OS 6-inch map. This was built in 1800 (Lewis 1837, vol. 2, 169) and described in early part of present century as 'weather-beaten Protestant church, still used' (Anon. 1907-9). Site of ancient parish church (CO089-009002-) of Kilmahon which was in ruins by 1615 (Brady 1986, vol. 2, 278). Earliest inscribed headstones noted date from 1740s, also some chest tombs (Anon., ibid.).
