What is recorded here

A bridge is depicted to the W and upriver from a settlement cluster (CO087-141----) named 'Carrigoline town' on the Down Survey (1655-6) Barony map . The location of the bridge may correspond with the modern day bridge which spans the Owenboy River at Carrigaline town. However, currently the precise location of the bridge is unknown. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 5' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). Date of revised upload: 13 June 2017

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.

The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
