The Down Survey (1655-6) Barony map shows a cluster of buildings in 'Bernehery', the present day Barnahely townland. The settlement appears to be in the vicinity of Castle Warren (CO087-052001-). There are no visible ground level remains of any 17th-century buildings in this area.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 5' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009).

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
