What is recorded here

Coleman (1894, 35) recorded a graveyard 'where the Old Square now stands in Queenstown [Cobh]'. There are no visible remains of this graveyard and the site is currently occupied by Pearse Square (Zajac et al. 1995, 36). The church (CO087-077----) was associated with this graveyard. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 5' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). Date of upload: 22 December 2009

This remains an important historical record, but the official description says the monument is no longer visible or has been destroyed.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
