What is recorded here

According to local information, the site of a monastery is located to the W of Lehenagh House. A ruined structure, thought to be the remains of a church, was visible there within living memory. Its precise location is not known but there are no visible remains of any church in the vicinity of Lehenagh House and a housing estate now occupies most of this land. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 5' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). Date of upload: 22 December 2009

This remains an important historical record, but the official description says the monument is no longer visible or has been destroyed.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.

The map shows only the centre of the wider government map area. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
