In tillage, on S-facing slope on E-W ridge overlooking Owenboy river to S; Carrigaline village to SE. Covered by beehive-shaped stone structure (H 2m; diam. 2.75m; wall thickness 0.4m); entrance to S. Topped with crude limestone cross embedded in concrete; five other crosses inscribed on outside walls. Inside, corbelled roof; circular plinth surrounds well; numeorus votive offerings. According to information plaque, "in the early 19th century large crowds attended the pattern every St. John's Eve ....to drink the water".
