O'Donoghue (1986) noted 'At the west side is Parknakilla - Pairc na Cille (field of the church) in which is the site of an ancient church'. There are no visible remains of any church here as the area has been quarried extensively. A souterrain (CO082-019001-) was noted in the quarry face in 1999.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 5' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009).
