What is recorded here

In pasture, on NW-facing slope just below top of hill. Circular area (diam. 46m) enclosed by earthen bank (max. int. H 1.7m) E->SSW; scarp (H 1.6m) NW->NNE; external fosse (D 1.35m) SE->SSW with counterscarp bank (H 0.25m). Bank stone-faced internally to height of 1.4m. Scarp topped by stone field boundary. Interior level for c. 7m inside S bank; remainder slopes gently down to NW. Visible as circular enclosure in aerial photograph (GSIAP; W 21). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 3: Mid Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997).
