On hill-top. Found by landowner c. 1919. Investigated by J. and A. Kerrigan in 1939. Stone-lined polygonal pit (L 0.6m; max. Wth 0.46m; D 0.53m) contained c. 0.10m of mud from which were extracted fragments of cremated human bone and charred wood. Pit was covered by slab 0.91m x c. 1.5m; floor also stone-lined. Bones identified as remains of two individuals, an adult and an infant. No remains of urn found but landowner informed investigators that when cist was first opened it contained pieces of dark brown unburnt timber whicn may have been remains of a small 'vessel'. The investigators also mentioned a second grave c. 9m away which was empty. (UCC). No visible surface trace.
