What is recorded here

Adjacent to and parallel with NW wall of graveyard (CO077-03101-). Remains of rectangular church (16.2m NE-SW; 6.15m NW-SE), reduced to low, grass-covered foundations (H c. 0.5m; wall thickness 0.9m). At NE end, under evergreen bush, are remains of random rubble wall, with mud and lime mortar. Gap (Wth 2m) at SW end of SE wall indicates position of door ope. Interior used as burial place since 18th century. Parish church of Bohillane; reported in ruins in 1615 and 1773 (Brady 1863, vol. 2, 54). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 2: East and South Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1994).
