A small tower is shown on the Down Survey (1655-6) barony map in the approximate location of Ballintubbrid House. This house was demolished in the late 1960s but some of its outbuildings survive and have been converted to residential use; these are late 18th/early 19th-century in appearance.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 5' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009).

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
