What is recorded here

On a level dry patch of ground in a field mostly covered with rushes, on a gentle NE-facing slope. According to local information, a spread of heat-shattered stones and charcoal-enriched soil was visible here when the field was ploughed. No burnt material was visible here in 2007. Two other possible burnt mounds (CO076-116001-, CO076-116002-) lie c. 100m and c. 70m to the NE, respectively. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 5' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). Date of upload: 22 December 2009
