What is recorded here

In a marshy area in a pasture field, on a S-facing slope. A spread of heat-shattered stones and charcoal-enriched soil (20.5m N-S; 16.5m E-W) was recorded here in 1997 (pers. comm. Seán Ó hUigín). There were no visible remains of this possible burnt mound when inspected in 2004. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 5' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). Date of upload: 22 December 2009
