In pasture, on W side of stream and out side NE ocorner of bawn wall of Barryscourt castle (CO075-018001-). Spread of burnt material noted during monitoring of excavation of sewage trench; further investigation not possible (Lennon 1989, 11). Burnt material covers area measuring c. 16m N-S and c. 12m E-W and is incorporated into field fence running N from corner of bawn wall. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 2: East and South Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1994). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009 This monument is subject to a preservation order made under the National Monuments Acts 1930 to 2014 (PO no. 4/1974).
