An oval mound (3.8m x 2.81m; D 0.1m) of heat-shattered stones and charcoal-enriched soil was discovered during archaeological monitoring in advance of the construction of the N22 Ballincollig Bypass and was partially excavated in 2002. The mound extended to the S, beyond the road-take. No pit or trough was exposed in the excavated portion. This is one of a group of six fulachtaí fia and burnt mounds (CO073-139----, CO073-140----, CO073-141----, CO073-142----, CO073-143----) which were excavated here, the closest of which are a possible fulacht fia (CO073-139----) c. 30m to the NE and a fulacht fia (CO073-143----) c. 30m to the E.
