During archaeological monitoring of topsoil in advance of the construction of the N22 Ballincollig Bypass, a subcircular pit (0.44m x 0.41m; D 0.07m) was discovered. The upper part of the pit had been removed during topsoil stripping. The pit contained a small quantity of poorly preserved cremated bone and 22 sherds of pottery, which appear to be from the bowl tradition of the Early Bronze Age. A radiocarbon date of 2300-2040 BC was obtained from charcoal in the pit. A pit (CO073-118----) with sherds of Bronze Age pottery but no cremated bone is located 100m to the SW. (Danaher 2004c, 61)
