Kilnaglory Church (in Ruins) — Kilnaglory

At centre of graveyard (CO073-060001-); fragmentary ivy-clad remains of Kilnaglory parish church. Rectangular structure (c. 8m N-S; c. 18m E-W; see plan, Henchion 1969b, 186); only parts of S and E walls and E end of N wall still stand. Large gap in centre of E wall and gap mid-way along S wall show former position of windows; part of window embrasure survives near E end of S wall; part of doorway embrasure survives near W end of S wall. Immediately beneath and slightly to E of window near E end of S wall, isrecess for piscina (depth 0.7m; Wth 0.57m; H 0.7m) with chamfered pointed arch, basin now below ground level. In partial repair in 1615, repaired between 1699 and 1704 but had fallen out of use by 1745 (Brunicardi 1913, 49-50); surviving features of late-medieval date.
