What is recorded here

Abandoned 2-storey gable-ended house with similar but slightly lower 2-storey addition on W side. Entrance front (S) of 5 bays with central rectangular door ope; addition to W of 3 bays with rectangular door ope in bay to E; both doors recent in appearance. Roof slopes further down at rear covering central 1-storey projection; similar extension on E side of addition on rear elevation. According to local information, no trace of the original Shandangan house survives and a 'modern' house now occupies the site. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 3: Mid Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997).
