In rough grazing, on rocky NW-SE ridge, on S-facing slope. Roughly circular area (24.2m N-S; 29.1m E-W) enclosed by partially collapsed stone wall. Wall collapsed outwards on NE and SW sides down steep external scarp (H 2.05m); survives best on NW and SE sides (int. H 1.2m; ext. H 0.35m) where land is level outside; large stones form inner stone facing to ESE. Entrance to S flanked on one side by radially-set slab (H 0.5m; L 1m). Interior uneven with rock outcrop protruding in places; scarped up against downslope on NE and SW sides. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 3: Mid Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009
