According to Murphy (1898, 17), the back entrance to the burial ground (CO069-079----), within the early ecclesiastical site of Cill Lachtaín (CO069-032----), was marked by 'two pillar stones, placed about five feet apart and nine feet high. One of these pillar stones is said to have an Ogham inscription on it'. The stones were removed when the burial ground was cleared c. 1835. A local priest, Rev. Michael Lane, tried to decipher the inscription at this time (ibid.). The present location of this ogham stone is not known. A stone (L 2.15m; 0.38m x 0.2m), reputed to be one of the pair taken from the burial ground, now lies on top of a stone fence at the S side of a farmyard to the W of the burial ground but no ogham markings have been found on it.
