In pasture, on S side of field fence and c. 25m W of present edge of burial ground (CO069-079----). Ground water flows S through small opening in field fence, where it is collected in concrete trough; run-off flows SW as small stream. Well, indicated on 1940 OS 6-inch map, is presumably same as that described by Murphy (1898, 18) as St Lachtaín's holy well, situated 'a few yards due west of where the pillar stones stood' which marked the western entrance to St Lachtaín's burial ground (CO069-079----). St Lachtaín's feast day occurred on 19th March and in the past was 'observed with a pilgrimage to his....wells in the parish' (Murphy 1897, 280). Two bullaun stones (CO069-024001-; CO069-024002-), now at Reananarree Roman Catholic church, were once situated near well (Murphy 1898, 18).
