What is recorded here

In undulating rocky area of rough pasture. Partially-collapsed ruin of rectangular church (12.85m SE-NW; 7.1m SW-NE); rubble-strewn interior overgrown but some low uninscribed gravemarkers discernible. Gap near NW end of SW wall probably indicates doorway position. Part of surround of central window ope in SE gable survives. Remains of burial ground (CO069-038001-) extend for c. 8m on SW side. According to O'Donoghue (1986, 244) known as 'Teampall Eachraise'; a ruin in 1602 when O'Sullivan Bear camped here (ibid.). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 3: Mid Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
