According to Zajac et al. (1995, 104), a mill, shown on a map dated 1776 (Scalé), was situated on the S side of Hayman's Hill, W of the Devonshire Arms Hotel in Youghal. O'Sullivan (1945, 96) states that there was a mill here attached to the Franciscan Friary (CO067-028001-), 'the foundations of which can still be traced at Hayman's Hill.' It was worked by 'a conduit from the reservoir in the Pond Field, the outline of which can still be seen' (ibid.). According to Zajac et al. (ibid.), the area in general is very overgrown and no visible surface trace of the mill survives.
